The Genesis of Premier Apartment Advisors

Premier Apartment Advisors is the only San Francisco/East Bay-headquartered commercial brokerage dedicated to institutional and professional multifamily investors. We strive to provide investor and developer clients with a superior level of advisory and transaction services based on our extensive track record and market expertise. Our innovative team approach affords clients the benefit of aggregate experience and comprehensive services. From our headquarters office in Alameda and our San Jose office in the Silicon Valley, we serve the nine-county San Francisco Bay Area market, as well as the northern Central Valley

While the Premier name may be new in the industry, our legacy includes some of the “household names” in apartment advisory services, where we established our roots and grew our experience. We now possess the commitment and strength to offer the Premier level of professional service in the industry.

Moison - East Bay Group

• 1990’s: John Leyvas joined Bill and Jerry Moison at Moison Investment Company in the early 1990’s and immediately became the perennial Top Producer.

• 1997: Knutson joined Leyvas and the Moison brothers, founding Moison Investment Company’s East Bay Group in 1997. All hailed from large, national brokerage houses, Leyvas at Grubb & Ellis and the Moisons and Knutson with Coldwell Banker Commerical. It was apparent to all that investors deserved a focused multi-family brokerage in the regional market - a firm exclusively dedicated to apartment investments, providing specialized services and promoting the highest standards of professionalism and integrity. They built on proven apartment sales success and local market knowledge. At the same time, their innovative brokerage culture based on teamwork was launched, giving clients the advantage of the team’s aggregate experience, time and dedication.

Premier Apartment Advisors Is Born

• 2004: Leyvas and Knutson acquired the Moison brothers’ financial interest in the East Bay Group; however, they continued as an independently operated entity retaining the Moison Investment Company name and a close affiliation with the Moison office in Los Altos. The firms have teamed up to conduct transaction volume in excess of $500M.

• 2006: Recognizing an industry niche for an identity exclusively focused on multi-family investments, Knutson and Leyvas created an easily recognizable new moniker.  Abandoning the industry norm of naming the company for its founders, Leyvas and Knutson selected a visibly distinguishing name. On September 1, 2006, Moison Investment Company - East Bay Group launched Premier Apartment Advisors and moved its headquarters to Marina Village, a corporate campus on the Alameda waterfront.

• 2007: Premier Apartment Advisors launches its San Jose Office, advancing its commitment regionally to apartment investors and developers across the San Francisco Bay Area.
